Different Groups for Focused Discipleship

What is the best next step for you in Discipleship?

At Church at the Gates we have several different types of groups you can join, each that seek to meet a specific need in discipleship. We believe that to be a disciple means to be in Christian community, to grow in knowledge of the Bible and Christian Belief, and to be formed by these things into Christlikeness.

We hope everyone who calls Church at the Gates their church home will take a next step in one of these groups. When it comes to choosing a group, ask yourself, “What is the right next step for me in this season?”

Groups will re-launch the Week of September 15th. In-person sign ups will be available on Sunday, September 8th. You can browse currently available groups below and click on them for more information or to sign up!

If you don't know where to start, check out the map below to see where you might be at in your discipleship journey or email our Pastor of Discipleship, Mark Resch: m.resch@churchatthegates.org.

MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES

Missional Communities are co-ed groups of about 15 people. These groups are open all semester, and focus on sermon studies of our current series. They often fellowship over food, and spend time investing in relationships. This is a perfect place to get to know more people in the church and get a better understanding of the Sunday topics!

DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS

Discipleship groups are smaller groups of 4-8 people. There are groups for either men or women. These groups meet regularly and are about being known deeply by others. These groups are built on the idea that change happens when we are known, loved, given grace, and pointed towards Jesus. While these groups may study a book of the bible or another resource their aim is not merely topical but relational. If you are looking for encouragement, accountability, grace, and discipleship, then D-Groups are for you.

EQUIPPING CLASSES

Equipping classes are groups that focus on teaching specific topics and dive in deep. Whether it’s how to study the Bible, or biblical sexuality, or financial peace, these groups are about building our theology and love for God based on his Word. These classes have a start and end date, some are offered online while others are in person. These are a great place to grow in your knowledge of God’s Word.
